2026 Travel Tryouts: Updated Schedule

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Boys 6th/7th
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: Boys 3rd/4th

We apologize to everyone for the inconvenience of needing to reschedule last Sunday's travel tryouts (10/4/26).

Due to the excellent turnout on September 26th, the MBA is consolidating the tryout schedule for Sunday, October 11th. These tryouts are meant ONLY for athletes who were not already evaluated on September 26th .

Second Tryout Rescheduled

If your athlete was not evaluated on September 26th and is unable to attend Sunday October 11 during the designated time, please email the Travel director ASAP, so an alternative arrangement can be explored.

Notes on Unschedueld Grades

Boys 5th & Girls 5th

All athletes registered for travel tryouts have already been evaluated at the first session on September 26th. As a result, they are not on the updated schedule for the second tryout date.

Girls 3rd, 4th, and 7th

The number of registered tryout athletes was below the threshold to form a team. As a result, they are not on the schedule for the second tryout date. The MBA does have a rec program for these athletes and is also exploring additional workshops to provide opportunities for players beyond the rec program.

K-4th Recreation clinics/scrimmages take place on the weekends.

2026-2027 Schedule

Saturdays @ Orchard Hill Elementary School (OHES)
Kindergarten (co-ed): 9-10AM
1st/2nd Girls: 10-11AM
1st Boys: 11AM-12PM
2nd Boys: 12PM-1PM
3rd/4th Girls: 1PM-2:15PM
Sundays @ Orchard Hill Elementary School (OHES)
3rd/4th Boys Session 1
3rd/4th Boys Session 2

The timing of 3rd/4th Boys is still TBD. The time range will be starting 12PM (earlier) and concluding 5PM (latest).

Final schedule to be set based on registration numbers. If an additional session is needed for a grade level, the other following grades would move back a time slot.

The Recreation program is divided into two divisions: K-4th and 5th-12th grades. General information about each program can be found on the Recreation webpage .

5th-12th Recreation games take place on the weekends (Friday-Sunday)

2026-2027 Weekends (Friday-Sunday)

November: 20-22
December: 4-6, 11-13, 18-20
January: 8-10, 22-24, 29-31
February: 5-7, 19-21, 26-28

The first weekend of scrimmages will be used to tentatively create teams. Final team determination will depend on school team announcements and, if needed, additional gameplay. Weekly practices will commence once teams are established with the schedule set by the team's head coach.

7th/8th: Saturdays 9AM-12PM
9th-12th (HS): Sunday mornings
Girls
5th–8th: Saturday mornings

Note: Any athlete who plays on a travel, Middle School, High School and/or AAU team is not eligible to participate in this recreation program. If you are welcomed onto one of the aforementioned teams after you have registered for rec, but before the rec season has started, the MBA can offer a full refund of your rec registration fees.

Although players are only required to attend one tryout session, attendance at both sessions is strongly encouraged. Tryouts are closed to everyone other than evaluators and persons assisting with tryouts.

Registration is open now for Girls 8th + Boys 8th, though the actual tryout will take place after UMS school team selection is completed – usually mid November.

Please email the Travel Director with any questions, or if your child has a conflict with both tryout sessions.

GHA Fall Shooting: Registration Open

Registration is now open for the Fall 2026 Grundy Hoops Academy Wednesday Night Shooting w/ Coach Grundy!

Details
Each of these 60 minute workouts (6:00PM – 7:00PM) will take place at Montgomery High School. The Shooting program is open to both boys and girls who will be entering grades 4 - 8 in September.

Each workout will start with 10 minutes of form shooting before we begin the work on the shooting machines, 6 to each machine. Sessions are limited to the first 24 athletes that register.

Each of these 75 minute training sessions (5:30PM – 6:46PM) will take place at Montgomery Upper Middle School. The Skill Development program is open to both boys and girls who will be entering grades 2 - 8 in September.

New MBA Website Launched

The Montgomery Basketball Association is excited to announce the launch of our new website and registration platform with TeamSnap ONE.

Updated Website
The new website has a refreshed look and updated content. It will also host schedules and registration links. This should be the one-stop shop for all things MBA!

App Integrations
With the new TeamSnap ONE platform, all teams – travel & rec – will have access to the newly updated, totally ad-free TeamSnap One mobile app. The app will make it easy to keep track of schedules, and schedule changes, and to communicate within the team.

Registration
All registrations will live on the website. You'll be able to see them when they go live and no longer need to worry about tracking down a missing link.
