Thursday, February 27, 2014

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Pride announced the signings of several former standout Colorado Rapids Women players for their inaugural W-League season. Sophie Howard, Hannah Levett and Cloe Roberts have all committed to play for Pride for the 2014 season.

Germany international and University of Central Florida standout Howard was a key player for the German U20 National team that advanced to the 2012 FIFA Women's World Cup final. Howard, a strong and versatile defender, played an integral role in helping the UCF win consecutive conference championships in 2012 and 2013. Starting in all 23 games, Howard led the Knights to a 2013 record of 16-3-4.

English-born Levett joins the Pride for her fourth W-League season, having had successful seasons with Colorado Force and Colorado Rapids Women. Levett has been a prominent player for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) for the past three years and will enter her senior year in 2014. Levett was a key midfield player for the Colorado Rapids W-20 North American Championship win in 2012.

Roberts adds to the W-league experience having had successful seasons with the Rapids Women and Atlanta Silverbacks. She is a product of the England youth national teams, having been a recent member of the England U20 team.

Roberts scored eight goals and added seven assists for the Rapids in 2013 and will look to further improve on her time in Colorado.
